Delete your account
Pad is a project management app published by Perpetual Software LLC. This page explains how to permanently delete your Pad account and the data associated with it, and what happens to that data afterwards.
Scope. These instructions apply to Pad Cloud (the hosted service at app.getpad.dev). If you use a self-hosted Pad instance, your data lives on a server run by whoever operates that instance — the same in-app flow below deletes your account from that server, and any retention beyond the live database is up to that operator. Contact them directly for anything the app can’t do for you.
Export your data first
Deletion is permanent — there is no grace period and no way to recover a deleted account. If you want to keep a copy of your work, export it before you delete:
- Go to Account Settings (sign in at app.getpad.dev, then open Settings).
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section.
- Click Export my data to download all of your account data as a single JSON file.
Delete your account (in the app)
- Sign in to Pad Cloud at app.getpad.dev and open Account Settings → Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom of the page.
- Click Delete my account. A confirmation panel appears listing what deletion does.
- Confirm your identity:
- Email / password accounts (and all self-hosted accounts): enter your password in the Enter your password to confirm field.
- Accounts that only use a sign-in provider (Google, GitHub, or Apple, with no password): type your account email address, or the word DELETE, to confirm.
- If two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled: enter your current 6-digit code in the 2FA code field.
- Click Permanently delete my account.
Once you confirm, your account is deleted immediately, you are signed out, and you are returned to the login page. This cannot be undone.
Before you confirm, the app reminds you that:
- Deletion is permanent and irreversible.
- It cancels any active paid subscription immediately, with no refund.
- Any workspaces you own that are shared with other people are deleted, and every member loses access — there is no ownership transfer.
Can’t sign in? Request deletion by email
If you can’t reach the in-app flow — you’ve lost access, uninstalled the app, or can’t sign in and can’t reset your password — email us and we’ll delete your account for you:
Send the request from the email address on your account so we can verify it’s you. We respond to and process deletion requests within 30 days.
What happens to your data
The table below reflects Pad Cloud. Self-hosted instances follow the same in-app deletion, but retention of anything beyond the live database (backups, logs) depends on the instance operator.
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Account profile — email, username, display name, password, two-factor (TOTP) secret, plan | Deleted |
| Login sessions | Deleted |
| Personal API tokens | Deleted |
| Item stars and saved report layouts | Deleted |
| Collection- and item-level access others granted to you | Deleted |
| Comments you wrote | Kept but de-identified — the text and author name remain in the workspace, unlinked from your account |
| Items assigned to you | Kept — unassigned from you and left in the workspace |
| Workspace activity-feed and security-audit entries | Kept but de-identified — unlinked from your account |
| Workspaces you own (including those shared with others) | Archived and removed from our live systems within 30 days; because there is no ownership transfer, any co-members lose access |
| Encrypted database backups | Any of your data still present is purged on our normal backup-rotation schedule and is never restored except to recover from a disaster |
| Billing records | Your payment-processor (Stripe) customer record is cancelled and deleted as part of the process; invoices your processor must keep for tax and accounting law are retained by them, outside Pad |
